These terms apply to this website and to work performed by Cypress Prime, based in Goose Creek, South Carolina. The written estimate you sign for a specific job is the agreement for that job, and where it differs from this page, the signed estimate governs.
Estimates
An estimate is based on what was visible and described at the time of the visit. It lists what is included and what is not.
Conditions that could not be seen beforehand, such as rot behind trim, failed substrate under a coating or damage revealed once a surface is opened, may change the scope. When that happens you are told before the work continues, with what it changes in scope and in price. Work outside the written scope is not performed without your approval.
An estimate is valid for 30 days unless it states otherwise.
Scheduling
Start dates are confirmed in writing. Exterior work depends on weather: coating applied outside the temperature and humidity range it is rated for will not perform, so exterior dates may move and you are told as soon as we know.
If you need to reschedule, tell us as early as you can so the slot can be used.
Access and Preparation
We need access to the work area on the scheduled days, and a way to reach water and power where the job requires it.
Before we start, remove or point out anything fragile, irreplaceable or of high sentimental value. We protect the work area and move and cover ordinary furniture, and we are not responsible for items that were not disclosed and could not be reasonably identified as needing special handling.
Payment
Accepted methods are Venmo, cash, Zelle and check. We do not accept cards and we do not offer financing.
Payment terms, including any deposit, are stated in the written estimate for the job.
Warranty
Interior painting carries a 1-year written warranty. Exterior painting carries a 2-year written warranty. The covered and not covered list is written into your estimate before the work begins.
Covered: peeling or flaking paint, blistering, cracking, adhesion failure, staining from incorrect application, poor coverage appearing early, and uneven or imprecise finish lines.
Not covered: water damage, mold from structural issues, leaks or flooding, impact damage from furniture or objects, grease and dirt buildup, natural sun fading, structural wall problems, and repairs made by others to our work after we finish.
The warranty covers our labor and the finish we applied. It does not extend to surfaces we did not prepare or coat, and it ends if the surface is altered or repaired by someone else.
To make a claim, contact us with photos and we will come and look.
Older Homes
Federal rules govern work that disturbs paint in housing built before certain dates, and separate rules apply to materials that may contain asbestos, including some textured paints and patching compounds.
Where those rules apply, we follow them. On an older ceiling, material is tested before removal. Where a job requires a certification we do not currently hold, we say so and we do not perform that work.
Photographs
We may photograph completed work for our portfolio, website and social media. Photos show the work, not people, and never include anything that identifies your address. Tell us if you prefer that we do not photograph your job and we will not.
